Compassionate Inquiry and Intuitive Spiritual Counselling
Compassionate Inquiry can help with anything or any situation - stress, health issues, pain, grief, mental health
(depression, addiction, ADHD, etc) and with an overall sense of well-being.
Let me help you to reconnect with your authentic self that holds the key to all of your gifts, your power,
and your soul purpose for being on the planet, helping you to come home to who you truly are.
I was taught by trauma expert, world-renowned speaker and best selling author,
Dr. Gabor Maté in Compassionate Inquiry (C.I.).
The intuitive healing approach he developed after decades of his work in family practice
and in mental health (specializing in trauma and addictions).
C.I. is very effective at helping you to get in touch with your essence / authentic self
and aspects of yourself and / or blocks to your healing
that you may not even be aware of. It can also help you to reconnect with parts of yourself
that you have no awareness of such as your inner child or inner children.
It is said that all pain arises from a disconnection from self.
In order to experience powerful results from Compassionate Inquiry, surrender your logical mind and (with practice)
your judgements, be open to allowing your feelings (emotional / physical), and trust and allow yourself to be guided
and experience a compassionate approach to yourself and to your feelings.
Gabor taught me that authenticity is at the root of all healing and how having a
compassionate witness providing guidance to help to keep you on track
can assist you with tapping into your own inherent wisdom, empowering yourself to heal.
Mainly what Gabor taught me, greatly validated the intuitive spiritual counselling and healing work I was already practicing (and that I developed myself over decades) but the the main take away I learned from him
that elevated my work, was that the feelings (emotional / physical) are the key.
I integrated this piece into the intuitive spiritual counselling work and I Indigenized it, and the results were astounding.
Since that time my work has evolved and I've come to learn to integrate mindfulness techniques
that can really help towards just being present with whatever one is feeling
without needing to change them or do anything.
How breathing alongside the feelings versus going directly into them is an effective way to honour one's feelings.
How this simple act of acknowledgement is powerful and can really help to maintain a balanced state of equilibrium
in all four quadrants of the medicine wheel - emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual.
This technique I've developed and integrated into CI can be very helpful as a way to more slowly and more safely expose oneself to intense and / or challenging feelings and to build up tolerance to them over time, by doing so in tiny increments which can really help to reduce any risk of destabilization and / or retraumatization.
Most people inadvertently avoid their feelings by engaging
in both learned and unconscious coping mechanisms
such as keeping super busy, engaging in social media / internet, numbing via addictions
(to drugs, alcohol, sugar, sex, co-dependent relationships, porn, internet, games, shopping, etc.)
and by engaging in other unhealthy and non-supportive / harmful activities.
CI helps one to become present and aware and connected to their true essence self and their true feelings.
The approach I take with Compassionate Inquiry can help one to be okay with their feelings
and to learn helpful tools for managing them versus running away from them.
Because ultimately feelings will arise in order to be addressed otherwise avoidance, denial
and suppression of them can lead to them building up and becoming exaggerated
to the point of them being expressed in unhealthy and harmful ways and / or
to them being turned inwardly resulting in deep and chronic depression / pain and / or other health issues.
Also, becoming aware of the body and what one is feeling in their body
can help to get in touch with one's inner landscape.
As the body stores everything, and so a part of this inner work of Compassionate Inquiry,
can also be tracking changes in the body.
So there is also this somatic level to this inner work that isn't solely based on emotions.
I've come to learn that accessing the feelings in this way can really help to get to the root of the matter.
Sometimes it can even by-pass the "story" all together, which helps to shift the feelings
a lot more effectively and efficiently.
But overall this is a natural and organic process that unfolds as it is meant to over time, without any pushing or digging.
You can hear him Gabor speak more about Compassionate Inquiry here:

Clients book regularly with me as they would for talk therapy or other counselling
and they share how much better it is than talk therapy because it doesn't focus on "story"
and instead the feelings cut through directly to the root of the matter or issue.
I love working with my clients regularly in this way!
It is such a gift to witness their amazing growth, healing and evolution.
It means so much to me that I can take my expertise from decades working on my own healing and recovery
and use it in combination with C.I. to help my clients heal and move forward in their lives.
Some clients eventually come to a place of continuing this work on their own
and they end up having a valuable tool that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
I’m open to hearing wherever you are at or whatever you feel compelled to share.
As you speak and tell me your situation, problem or issue, I tune into your energy and spirit via your voice
and I am fully present with you holding space in a way that you may never have experienced before.
Sharing is optional. Context is optional. It is not necessary for C.I.
as we focus on the feelings and wherever they guide us.
I also offer e-counselling via *email. You can go to the services page above to learn more. Some clients prefer email counselling as then you'll have the email to read over so nothing is missed and also it can help as a form
of Mentorship because healing, or developing one's spiritual gifts can be isolating.
In all sessions and groups I host, I hold my eagle feather so I connect directly with my heart, speak the truth
and am fully present to hold safe space and to witness you on your healing journey.
With ceremony, offerings and prayers prior to our session, I create a safe container for our session to be held in.
During our call, in group, or during email exchange I pray and ask for assistance in spirit
for you and I send healing (if it's wanted).
I act as a hollow bone to allow my guides and the Creator to come through to provide you with whatever is needed for your highest good, deep witnessing so you feel and know you're not alone, and that you’re supported in wherever you are at without judgement or agenda, embraced in an organic process.
Ultimately you are the expert on you and I’m here as a guide to help you gain insight
and raise your awareness into who you really are and all of the inherent wisdom you carry.
I deeply honour emotions and that all feelings are valid as soon as they're felt.
When we hold in our emotions we create needless suffering and pain, and this creates energy-blocks
that can put us at risk for dis-ease in the body, so it is very important to learn to allow whatever feelings are there,
acknowledging them so they can be honoured and potentially (or eventually) letting them release and flow
like the ocean's ebb and flow and understanding that they can become manageable with practice.
By putting Compassionate Inquiry into practice in our lives, outside circumstances and people (which we cannot control) no longer have power and / or such an influence over us.
Our inner peace and sense of well-being become more of a constant state
and our quality of life takes on new meaning and deeper levels of fulfillment.
C.I. is an amazingly powerful tool for helping you to get there.
